The Chicago Cubs' 1988 season involved the Cubs finishing in fourth place in the National League East with a record of 77-85, 24 games behind the New York Mets. It was also the year that the lights went on at Wrigley Fieldmarker for the first time ever, when they defeated the Mets, 6-4 on August 9.
