The 1989 FIFA World Youth Championship took place in Saudi Arabiamarker between February 16 and March 3, 1989. The 1989 championship was the 7th contested. The tournament took place in four venues: Riyadhmarker, Jeddahmarker, Dammammarker, and Ta'ifmarker.

Qualification

The following 16 teams qualified for the 1989 FIFA World Youth Championship. Host Saudi Arabia did not have to qualify for the tournament.
