The 1996 Baltimore Ravens season was the team's first year in the National Football League. Their first game was played against the Oakland Raiders on September 1, 1996 with an attendance was 64,124. The Ravens won 19-14.

On October 13, the Ravens went to Indianapolis to play Baltimore's previous team, the Colts, losing 26-21. This game has the distinction of being the first NFL on TNT broadcast after TNT's parent Turner Broadcasting System completed its merger with Time Warner, only 3 days earlier.

At the end of the season the Ravens finished 5th in AFC Central with 4-12-0.
