Summary of Rounds of Play
Thursday
After one day the lead belonged to 48-year old
Juli Inkster, who shot a 7-under par round of
65. After Inkster were seven players at 6-under par:
Momoko Ueda,
Laura
Diaz,
Johanna Head,
Yuri Fudoh,
Ji Young
Oh,
Ji-Yai Shin, and
Stacy Prammanasudh. Four players were
tied at two shots off the pace, including the
2004 champion at Sunningdale;
Karen Stupples. Many well-known players stood
at 3-under par, including number-one ranked player
Lorena Ochoa,
Natalie
Gulbis, and last weeks'
Evian
Masters winner
Helen
Alfredsson. However, many other top-ranked or well-known
players struggled with their rounds, including
Cristie Kerr at 1-under par and
Paula Creamer and
Annika Sörenstam at even-par.
Friday
Friday's low round belonged to American
Cristie Kerr, who made a jump to 8-under to be
tied for fourth. First-round leader
Juli
Inkster shot a 70 to move to 9-under par and in sole possession
of third place. But the two leaders shined above all on Friday as
Yuri Fudoh and
Ji-Yai Shin each shot 68s to improve to 10-under
par on the championship. The weekend looks to be an exciting finish
to the tournament.
