The A28 near Rolvenden
The A28 is a trunk road in southern England. It runs south-west from the seaside resort of Margatemarker in Kentmarker via Westgatemarker and Birchingtonmarker, reaching open countryside at Sarremarker. The road continues via Upstreetmarker and Hersdenmarker to Sturrymarker, and on to the cathedral city of Canterburymarker. It forms part of Canterbury's ring road before leaving via Wincheapmarker and Thanington Withoutmarker, where there are plans for a northward link to the A2, and passing between the North Downsmarker via Charthammarker, Chilhammarker, Godmershammarker and Biltingmarker.

The A28 plunges back into suburbia at Kenningtonmarker, a suburb of Ashfordmarker, but skirts around the town centre on a section of dual carriageway. Bypassing Great Chartmarker, the road undulates around the Kentish Wealdmarker via Bethersdenmarker and High Haldenmarker, to the market town of Tenterdenmarker.

The A28 continues via Rolvendenmarker and Newendenmarker before crossing a narrow bridge over the River Rothermarker and entering East Sussexmarker via Northiammarker, beyond which the road becomes very winding. After Brede there is a steep descent to bridge the river of the same name. Next is Westfieldmarker, just before the road climbs to terminate at its junction with the A21marker just north of Hastingsmarker.
