Adanaspor is a football club in Adanamarker, one of the biggest cities in Turkeymarker (the forth largest city in Turkey). The club was founded in 1954 and their founding colours were navy blue and yellow. The club converted their colours to orange and white in 1967 to symbolize the locality and origin of the club. Orange representing citrus, and white representing cotton. Adanamarker is known for its agricultural wealth. Adanaspor played 21 seasons at Turkcell Super League and the greatest success was a 2nd place finish in the 1980-81 season. Adanaspor were promoted from First Group of Third League to Second League after a 0-0 draw with Mersin Büyükşehir Belediyespor (formerly and present name of Mezitlispor), in an away match in 2006-2007 season, as 2nd place finisher.In 2007-2008 season, the team managed to capture the first position in Group 5 of the Turkish 2nd League. The team finished first in Promotion Group after a 4-2 at Pendikspor home match and were promoted to Bank Asya 1. League. Shortly thereafter, three relegations and two promotions followed (in alternating order). They finished the Bank Asya First League as 8th in 2008-2009 season.

- The founders are Mehmet Şanlıtürk, Mustafa Bekbaş, Erol Erk, Ali Gedikbaş, Mehmet Resit Teksin and Dr. Muzaffer Eraslan.

- The first kit colors were yellow and dark blue.

- In 1966, Akınspor and Torosspor clubs joined Adanaspor towards being a professional club. After the merge, Adanaspor joined the professional league.

- Some of the founders of the professional club are Mehmet Eroğlu, Mustafa Bekbaş, Ali Gedikbaş, Ahmet Kavrakoğlu, Musa Çaldağ, Nevzat Ağaoğlu, Cumali Aslankeser, Selim Zeper and İsmail Kaplakaslan.

- In 1981/82 season, the team played against Inter (Italy) in UEFA cup. After having lost 3-1 at home and 4-1 away the team got eliminated against the Italian giants.

- The first non-Turkish manager was Ignace Molnar.

- The first non-Turkish players were Branko, Velkovic, Simokovic and Josip.

- The best non-Turkish player ever to play at the club was Đorđe Milić.

- Gunduz Tekin Onay was both the manager and the chairman of the club in 1995/96 season.

- Gunduz Tekin Onay's son, Gun Tekin Onay, who is a TV sports anchorman, found the nickname "Toros Tigers".

- The following players had their jubilee in Adanaspor: Orhan Yüksel, Sami Bayraktar, Timuçin Çuğ, Harun Kaya, Şahin Ulugünalp, Vedat Bayraktar, Necip Erdogan, Yalçın Korkmazcan, Ahmet Kahraman, Reşit Kaynak, Yener Çokyaşar, Güngör Çiçekciler, Eyüp Taş and Reşat Yılmaz.
