Aero Mongolia is an airline based in Ulan Batormarker, Mongoliamarker. It operates domestic services to six destinations and used to operate international scheduled services to Hohhotmarker, Irkutskmarker and Ulan-Udemarker. Its main base is Chinggis Khaan International Airportmarker, Ulan Bator.

History

The airline was established in 2002 and started operations on 25 May 2003. It was established by MIAT Mongolian Airlines to feed international services by MIAT, Korean Air, Air China and Aeroflot from Ulan Bator. It has 55 employees (at March 2007). It received its first Fokker 50 in December 2002 and received its Fokker 100 in January 2006. With the arrival of the Fokker 100, Aero Mongolia introduced its first flights to South Koreamarker. Aero Mongolia leased another Fokker 100 in June 2006. At the end of 2006 the airline started a direct flight route to Tianjinmarker, Chinamarker.

On 31 October 2007, Mongolian aviation authorities suspended Aero Mongolia flights temporarily after the airline failed safety checks. But in the first quarter of 2008 Aero Mongolia has received the license to fly in domestic routes. Now currently using 2 Fokker 50's which were modified in 2008 in Germany.

Aero Mongolia also operates scheduled charter flights around Mongolia. According to the company website, the air line is planning to fly to Kyzylmarker, the capital of the Tuvamarker Republic in Russiamarker, and Urumqimarker, the capital of Xinjiang Autonomous Region in Chinamarker.
