Ashingdon is a village and civil parish in Essex, Englandmarker. It is located about 4 km (2 miles) north-northwest of Rochfordmarker and is 21 km (13 miles) southeast from the county town of Chelmsfordmarker. The village lies within Rochford districtmarker and the parliamentary constituency of Rayleighmarker.

Ashingdon has a Parish Council.It is a rural parish, one of 14 parishes in Rochford District.The Parish is approximately North of Rochford and continues to the bank of the tidal River Crouch and the Parish includes the villages of Ashingdon and South Fambridgemarker.

Ashingdon and South Fambridge have been in existence for more than one thousand years.

According to the 2001 census the parish had a population of 3,165.

It was the site of the Battle of Ashingdon on 18 October 1016 and the church which lies on the hill was built 4 years after the battle (1020) by 'Canute the Great' of Denmarkmarker.

It is featured on a Weight Watchers advertisement in King George's Playing field.
