Playing Style

Atsushi Yanagisawa's playing style is different compared to other strikers/forwards. He often likes to pass to other players instead of going for goal himself. Many Japanese fans consider him as a second striker playing just behind the main centre forward. Although criticised for his lack of finishing ability, Yanagisawa reached the 50-goal plateau in fewer matches than any other J-league player in history. Yanagisawa has superior passing skills for a striker, leading many to suggest that he would be more suited to an attacking-midfield role or that of a winger, to take advantage of his passing talent and offset his inconsistent finishing.
