The
Ayrshire Post is a weekly Scottish
local
newspaper serving the community of
South Ayrshire with local news,
issues and sports coverage. Distribution extends into
North Ayrshire and
East Ayrshire, although these areas are served
primarily by sister papers the
Irvine
Herald and the
Kilmarnock
Standard.
The Ayrshire Post was founded in
1880 as a
voice of Liberalism in direct competition to existing Tory rival
The Ayr Advertiser and the now defunct Ayr Observer and the more
radical Ayrshire Express. The paper is currently owned by Scottish
& Universal Newspapers, part of the bigger
Trinity Mirror Group. It now has the largest
circulation of all publications in the Scottish and Universal
stable.
The Ayrshire Post's editorial headquarters
are on Nile Court in Ayr
town centre.
Its regional editor is Alan Woodison.
