BBC Radio nan Gàidheal is the BBC's Scottish Gaelic language station. It can also be heard on digital satellite television and DAB Digital Radio. BBC Radio nan Gàidheal also broadcasts on BBC Alba when not broadcasting television programmes.

Scottish Gaelic-language programming has been transmitted in Scotland since 1923, and the BBC's Gaelic-language department was established in 1935. Radio Highland produced a range of Gaelic programming – – and in 1979 the Scottish Gaelic service was established in Stornowaymarker. In 1985 these two separate services united to form .

Aileag is a Gaelic children's programme featuring modern-day and celtic music, interviews, information and, of course fun. It is a weekly show, first broadcast on Friday then repeated on Saturday. Aileag is broadcast from the BBC's Stornoway studio and first started in 1992. It is presented by Karen Mhoireasdan (Morrison) & Janice Anne Mackay

Aithris na Maidne

Aithis na Maidne is the main morning News and Current Affairs programme of Radio nan Gàidheal. Presented by Seumas Dòmhnallach, Dòmhnall Moireasdan, Iain MacIlleathain, Angela NicIlleathain and Innes Rothach. It covers a wide news agenda, encompassing national and international affairs, Highland and Island issues and issues pertaining specifically to the Gàidhealtachd. Aithris na Maidne airs Monday to Friday from 07.30 am to 09.00 am.

Mòrag Dhòmhnallach (MacDonald) presents A' Mire ri Mòi with traditional Gaelic music and general chat every weekday from BBC studio in Inverness.

Spòrs na Seachdain (Weeks Sport) is a weekly sport's programme. It broadcasts local, national and international sport with John Morrison. It is presented from Pacific Quay in Glasgow. Guest's include Radio Personality of the Year 2008, Derek Murray, former Eòrpa reporter and spòrs commentator Derek Mackay and Ailig O'Henley and Ailean "Shabby" Macdonald.
