Balakong is a small town in

According to locals, the name Balakong comes from the Chinese New
Village which name is Balakong New Village. The village was drawn

Before 1980s (1980-1990)
the village was surrounded by rubber plantation used Tin Mining
Lakes. Most families in the village was rubber tappers. There a was
primary school, a few Chinese temple, a wet market, a Lutheran
church(on a hilltop),a cowboy town street,a people's town hall and
a football field. The village was divided by Sungai Balak.
During the development of Taming Jaya. the Locals said that the
developer Taming Jaya had rebuild the balakong road, a two lane
aside highway started from Mines wonderland to Cheras 11th
later, taman Caughlock from behind of the village had a road

Today Balakong road had much been replaced by Balakong SILK Highway
connected with Kajang Silk highway which exist at the North-South Expressway

of the Golden horses, Housing estates, factories, Mines wonderland
which house Giant supermarket and ends up with Econsave
Hypermarket, Jusco Hypermarket cum shopping complex with connection
to Bandar Tun Hussien Onn.
On the opposite of New village Balakong, There are Balakong Jaya,
Taming Jaya, Taming Jaya Kiri, Desa Ria, Taman Impian Eshan, Taman
Cheras Jaya and connected to Kajang town.
