Bhattu Kalan (Punjabi: ਭਟ੍ਟੁ ਕਲਾਂ, Hindi: भट्टू कलां) or Bhatto Kalan is
a large village situated in present day Fatehabad
District
, near Sirsa city, in the state
of Haryana
, India
. This
is the native village of Khuda Bux, the father of
Sir Shahnawaz Bhatto.
Sir Shahnawaz Bhatto
migrated from Bhatto Kalan before the partition of India and later on settled
in Sindh
, presently
in Pakistan. Sir Shahnawaz
Bhatto used his native village name "Bhatto" as his
identification. Later on spelling of Bhatto was changed to Bhutto
by
Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto.
Bhattu Kalan was a constituency in state assembly till 2008 and was
a stronghold of vetern Congress leader
Professor
Sampat Singh who represented this
constituency 4 times defeating heavy weights like
Mani Ram
Godara.
After delimitation exercise in 2008, villages
of Bhattu Kalan were merged in Fatehabad
and Adampur
constituencies.
