Bill Brown is an American
baseball announcer who has been with the Houston Astros since 1987. He is often
called "Brownie" by his play by play partner
Jim Deshaies. He has developed a reputation for
being a solid broadcaster that often plays the part of the straight
man to Deshaies' humorous asides.
Brown was inducted into the Texas Sports
Hall of Fame
on November 12. 2004.
Brown did play-by-play for the
Cincinnati Stingers Television Newtwork
for the 1975-76 season and the
Cincinnati Reds Television Network from
1976-1982. He worked 4 years with
Ken
Coleman and another 4 years with
Ray
Lane. He also was a senior producer and anchor of the
Financial News Network's
SCORE programing, and sports director of
the
Sports Time Cable Network.
Brown lives in Houston with his wife, Dianne. Their only daughter,
Allison is the mother of Brown's two grandchildren: Luke, 3, and
Emma Kate, 1.
