Bluegrass Heritage Museum is
a local history museum in Winchester, Kentucky
.
The museum
contains information ranging from Eskippakithiki Indian (a branch
of the Shawnee), to Daniel Boone and Boonesboro
, up to today. Exhibits include the former
use of the building as a medical clinic, area agricultural and
military history, and collections of
quilts
and
telephones.
The museum rests in between downtown Winchester and residential
neighborhoods.
History
Bluegrass Heritage Museum is a former medical clinic. The earliest
owner of the building was well respected physician, Dr. Ishmael. He
opened his office in 1887 and practiced medicine up until his death
in 1920. Then in 1927, Dr. Edward P.
Guerrant opened the
building and turned it into the Guerrant Clinic and Hospital to
treat the local residents of Clark County
