Brian Nestande (born 1964) is the Republican California State Assemblyman for the 64th District and was elected to the post in 2008. He is the son of former Assemblyman Bruce Nestande, who was the Republican nominee for Secretary of State in 1986.

Education

Nestande obtained his degree in political science from Cal State Fullertonmarker in 1992.

Pre Assembly Career

Immediately after graduating from college, Nestande obtained a job as Deputy Campaign Manager of the successful congressional campaign of Michael Huffington in Santa Barbara County, CAmarker. In 1994, Nestande managed the successful congressional campaign of then Palm Springs, CAmarker Mayor Sonny Bono. Nestande went to work in Bono's office as Chief of Staff until Bono's death in early 1998. Bono's widow, Mary Bono Mack, was elected to succeed Sonny, and Nestande served as her chief of staff from 1998 until 2000. Nestande left politics in 2000 and started a political and government relations firm named Nestande and Associates. It was headquartered in Palm Desert, CAmarker.

2008 Assembly Campaign

Nestande beat Kelly McCarty in the 2008 Assembly primary. He faced no major or minor party opposition in the general election.

Personal

Assemblyman Nestande has been a resident of Riverside Countymarker for 15 years. He currently lives there with his wife and their 7 kids—4 girls and 3 boys.
