Brian A. Shactman is an American journalist for CNBCmarker, a United States business channel he joined in June 2007 as a general assignment reporter and substitute anchor for CNBC's Business Day Programming. He is now a co-anchor on Worldwide Exchange along with CNBC Europe's Ross Westgate in Londonmarker and CNBC Asia's Christine Tan in Singaporemarker. Shactman took over the anchoring duties of that program on October 22, 2007.

Biography

Shactman joined CNBC after his four-year tenure at Hartfordmarker NBC-affiliate WVITmarker, which is owned and operated by General Electric, the parent company of CNBC. Prior to joining WVIT in 2002, Shactman held various positions at ESPN, including analyst work at ESPNEWS, SportsCenter and ESPN Radio, as well as writing, producing, and editing content for ESPN.com.

Shactman received three regional Emmy Awards in 2002 for his sports anchoring and reporting. A year later (2003), he won The Associated Press Award for a documentary on University of Connecticutmarker women's head basketball coach Geno Auriemma.

Shactman is also involved in community service, volunteering for Junior Achievement, ALS, and Connecticut's mentoring program. He is also on the Board of Directors for Special Olympics.

Shactman earned a B.A. in English and History from Amherst Collegemarker. He also has a Master of Arts degree in English from Clark Universitymarker in Worcester, Massachusettsmarker.
