Callow Hill is a village on the outskirts of Redditch in Worcestershire, Englandmarker. Other villages nearby include Astwood Bankmarker, Feckenhammarker, Cookhillmarker and Webheathmarker


Callow Hill has been a village outside Redditch since 7 September 1984 when over 250 new homes were built. Before the new homes were built in the area commonly known as New Callow Hill, Callow Hill was a small hamlet. The village has a private golf course, founded in 1913, located between Morton Stanley Park and Webheathmarker. Located in the centre of the Golf Course are a collection of large houses situated on a private road, Lower Grinsty Lane.

The Gazebo and Village

The Gazebo, on Foxholes Lane, is Callow Hill's village hall. It is also used as a polling station. Very occasionally village meetings are held but only a maximum of twenty-thirty people can attend because the Gazebo is so small. Situated near the Gazebo is the Callow Hill village pond, which is surrounded by trees and greenery. There are two major roads travelling through Callow Hill: Foxholes Lane and Callow Hill Lane, which links Callow Hill with Redditch and Hanbury.

Local Bus service

Every Monday, Wednesday and Friday there is a bus service from Pershoremarker travelling to Sainsbury's in [Redditch]] and stopping via the Gazebo in Callow Hill. The route is operated by the local bus operators, N.N Creswall of Eveshammarker. The bus service also stops near by;


Callow Hill comes under the UK constituency of Redditchmarker and the local MP is Jacqui Smith from the Labour Party.

More locally, Callow Hill, does not have a parish council or a village council it has a committee. The Committee does not even cover the whole of Callow Hill, only the main estate, so roads like; Love Lyne, Green Lane, Sillins Lane, Brookhouse Lane and Lower Grinsty lane do not have village representatives. The Callow Hill committee is not elected the committee members choose themselves.

Redditch Borough Council

Callow Hill is part of Crabbs Cross ward of Redditch Borough Council; there are two councillors, elected in rotation for four years each. They are currently Conservative councillors David Smith, elected in 2004; and Jack Field, elected in 2004 after the entire council faced re-election and boundary changes. The next election is due to be held in 2010.

Worcestershire County Council

Callow Hill is part of Redditch South electoral division of Worcestershire County Council, which is represented by two Conservative councillors, Barry Gandy and Peter Gretton. Callow Hill comes under the Redditch South division of Redditch ward.
