Cedric Simmons (born January 3, 1986, in Shallotte, North Carolinamarker) is an Americanmarker professional basketball player for the Greek League club Peristeri Athens. A 6'9", . power forward, Simmons was selected by the New Orleans Hornets in the first round (15th overall pick) of the 2006 NBA Draft. Simmons also has the versatility to contribute at center as well as power forward. He is known for his shot blocking, rebounding, and powerful dunks.

College career

As a sophomore at North Carolina State University, he averaged 11.8 points, 6.3 rebounds, 1.7 assists and 2.5 blocks per game.

Pro career

On September 29, 2007, Simmons was traded to the Cleveland Cavaliers for guard David Wesley.

On February 21, 2008, Simmons was traded to Chicago Bulls, in a three-team trade, along with Drew Gooden, Larry Hughes and Shannon Brown in exchange for Ben Wallace and Joe Smith.

On February 18, 2009, Simmons was traded to the Sacramento Kings along with Drew Gooden and Andrés Nocioni for Brad Miller and John Salmons.

On August 23, 2009, he joined the Greek League club Peristeri Athens.

Personal life

On December 12, 2007 at 12:07 a.m., Simmons' girlfriend Sabrina Acevedo gave birth to the couple's son at Hillcrest Hospital in Mayfield Heights, OH.
