The Cher is a river in central Francemarker, left tributary to the river Loiremarker. Its source is in the Creusemarker département, north-east of Crocqmarker. It joins the river Loire in Villandrymarker, west of Toursmarker.

The river suffered a devastating flood in 1940, which damaged Château de Chenonceaumarker, which spans the river, and other structures along the banks.
