Football career

Terlizzi spent his first half of career playing on lower divisions, even at the amateur level. He had a brief spell with Maltese club Pietà Hotspurs in the autumn of 2000. In 2003 he joined then-Serie B club Palermo, where he gained promotion to Serie A, then making his debut in the top division at the age of 25.

On 2006, he was signed by Sampdoria in a co-ownership bid, along with Pietro Accardi and Massimo Bonanni, as part of the deal of Aimo Diana and Marco Pisano. But he just played 4 games for the Genoa club. He was transferred to Catania on 18 July, 2007. Terlizzi became a big part of the Catania first team, and proved his worth with the Sicilian club. His impressive performances led to Italian giants, Juventus, showing their interest in the player over the 2008/2009 summer transfer window.

In Catania's incredible 2008-2009 first half of the season, which has led to speculation of possible UEFA Cup football for the Sicilian club next season, Terlizzi has been incredible in defence, and his position in the Starting eleven is guaranteed. He has been absolutely superb thus far this term.
