Christine Tan (pronounced Tahn) is a Singaporeanmarker financial journalist with CNBC Asia and is the Singapore anchor for Worldwide Exchange, the global business-news program broadcasting live each weekday from Asia, Europe and the United Statesmarker. In addition to Worldwide Exchange, which she co-anchors with CNBC Europe's Ross Westgate and CNBCmarker US' Brian Shactman, she also anchors CNBC Asia's award-winning and longest-running feature program, "Managing Asia," which she interviews key executives and leaders of Asian companies.

Biography

Tan was born in Singapore and grew up in Serangoon Gardens with her parents (father Harry Tan was post office administrator and mother Agnes Tan was a secretary) and younger brother (media researcher).

After attending Catholic Junior College, she went to New Zealandmarker for her post-secondary studies.

Prior to Worldwide Exchange (which debuted on 2005-12-19), Christine Tan was an anchor on the now-defunct CNBC Asia program, Asia Market Wrap, which in turn, was canceled on 2005-12-16.

Tan has over 15 years of experience in journalism, half of that with CNBC Asia. She started her career at Television Corporation of Singapore's Channel 5 in 1994 and hired by (but never appeared on) Channel NewsAsia 1999 before joining CNBC. She was a recipient of the Best News Program award at the 2004 Asian Television Awards on behalf of The Asian Wall Street Journal. The same program also won a finalist award at the 2004 New York Festivals Awards for Coverage of a Breaking News Story.

Tan was also a finalist for Best News Anchor in 2001 and 2002 at the New York Festivals Awards. She was also a Best Current Affairs Presenter finalist at the 1997 Asian Television Awards and received High Commendations.

Tan holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Sociology and English and a Master of Arts degree with Honors in Sociology from the University of Aucklandmarker, New Zealandmarker. Tan is married to banker Daniel Lee.
