Colin Carr (b. 25 October 1957 in Liverpool) is a Britishmarker cello soloist, chamber musician, recording artist and teacher.

A professor of cello currently at the Royal Academy of Musicmarker. Carr taught at the New England Conservatorymarker in Bostonmarker for 16 years before taking up his current job at the Royal Academy of Music. In addition, he is also affiliated with the State University of New York at Stony Brookmarker. He took second place in the international Rostropovich Cello Competition and won the Young Concert Artists International Auditions (1978). Carr began playing at the age of five, and studied with Maurice Gendron. He also attended the Yehudi Menuhin School. He now plays on the 'Marquis de Corberon' Stradivari cello, formerly played by Zara Nelsova, and owned by the Royal Academy of Musicmarker. He lives with his wife and three children in a 17th century restored farmhouse outside of Oxford, England.
