The
Danish Single European Act referendum of 1986 was
a non-binding referendum held in Denmark
on February 27, 1986.
75.4 % of eligible Danes turned out to vote in the referendum, with
56.2 % voting in favour and 43.8 % voting against.
The referendum was held by the government of the
Prime Minister of Denmark,
Poul Schlüter.
The government was in
favour of Denmark ratifying the Single European Act, but a majority in
parliament
was against it. The referendum was the last
EEC /
EU related referendum in which parties such as the
Social Democrats and the
Social Liberal Party
recommended against ratification.
