David Burge (born March 25, 1930 in Evanston, Illinoismarker) is an Americanmarker pianist, conductor and composer. As a performer, he is noted for championing contemporary pieces.

He studied at the Eastman School of Musicmarker and the Cherubini Conservatory, Florencemarker as a Fulbright scholar.

He first gained recognition in the 1960s, and in the early 1970s George Crumb wrote his books of piano pieces Makrokosmos for him. He recorded the work, and received a Grammy nomination.

In early 2002, Burge and Crumb were appointed to a joint residency at Arizona State Universitymarker.

He has accepted visiting professorships not only at many universities and conservatories in the United States but also in Denmark, Turkey, New Zealand, Canada, Australia, Sweden, and Korea.

David Burge is not to be confused with David Lucas Burge, who sells ear training CDs.
