Dean Matthew Keenan (born 15
October 1985 in Glasgow
) is a
Scottish
footballer currently playing for Ayr United.
Keenan
grew up in Mosspark
on Glasgow's
Southside and attended Our Lady of the Rosary RC Primary School and
later Lourdes RC Secondary School. As a regular and a stand
out for both Primary and Secondary School teams a move into the
senior game looked inevitable. Keenan began his footballing career
at
Clydebank where remained until the
clubs demise. After leaving Clydebank he begin playing for amateur
Glasgow side Pollock Utd. His spell at Pollock Utd earned him a
move to
Greenock Morton in
2002. He made his debut for Morton in a cup-tie against
Queen of the South in 2002 and was
subsequently shown a red card following his tackle on former
Celtic winger
Brian McLaughlin.
Keenan operates as either in defence or midfield.
He was loaned out to
Second Division
side
Ayr United during the January
transfer window in 2008. He joined Ayr permanently in May
2008.
He also
scored in the Ayrshire
derby,
making himself a hero amongst the locals and is currently signed on
a 2 year deal at Somerset
Park
.
