Don Mitchell is an academic Geographer at the Maxwell School of Syracuse Universitymarker. He is a graduate of the San Diego State Universitymarker (1987), Pennsylvania State Universitymarker (1989) and received his Ph.D. from Rutgers Universitymarker in 1992.

He is currently serving as the chairperson of the geography department at Syracuse. Considered one of the most influential young Geographers, he is perhaps best known for his work on cultural theory (see Mitchell 1995), and the People's Geography Project.

In 1998, he became a MacArthur Fellow.
