Edward William Clark (born November 30, 1946) is an Americanmarker prelate of the Roman Catholic Church. He currently serves as an auxiliary bishop of the Archdiocese of Los Angeles.


Edward Clark was born in Minneapolismarker, Minnesotamarker. Educated in Californiamarker, he attended Our Lady Queen of Angels Seminary in San Fernandomarker and St. John's Seminary in Camarillomarker.

Clark was ordained to the priesthood by Archbishop Timothy Manning on May 9, 1972, and then served in pastoral assignments in the Archdiocese of Los Angeles. From 1985 to 1988, he studied at the Pontifical Gregorian Universitymarker in Romemarker, where he earned a doctorate in theology. He served as Coordinator of Religious Instruction for Secondary Schools from 1988 to 1990, and was named Rector-President of St. John's Seminary in 1994.

On January 16, 2001, Clark was appointed Auxiliary Bishop of Los Angeles and Titular Bishop of Gardar by Pope John Paul II. He received his episcopal consecration on the following March 25 from Roger Cardinal Mahony, with Archbishops William Levada and Justin Rigali serving as co-consecrators. As an auxiliary, he serves as the Regional Bishop for Our Lady of the Angels Pastoral Region.

Within the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops, Clark is the Catholic Chairmain of the Anglican-Roman Catholic Theological Consultation. He is also considered a leading contender to replace Archbishop Allen Vigneron as Bishop of Oakland.
