Dame Elisabeth Anne Marian Frost Hoodless (born 11 February 1941)is the Executive Director (since 1975) of Community Service Volunteers (CSV), the United Kingdommarker's largest volunteering and training charity.

Early years

Having studied at King's College, Durham (Durham Universitymarker) and the L.S.E.marker, she qualified as a medical social worker. She was appointed as Assistant Director of CSV in 1963, when she was the only paid member of staff - the founding director Alec Dickson (1914-1994), and his wife, Maura, were volunteers. She became CVS's Deputy Director in 1972 and Executive Director in 1975.

As Executive Director she presides over an organisation of 780 employees and an annual turnover of £33 million. Since 1988 CSV's Retired and Senior Volunteer Programme involves older people with time to spare in their communities.

Honours

In 2004 Elisabeth Hoodless was named Dame Commander of the Order of the British Empire.

Family

She is married with two sons and two granddaughters.
