This article is about the suburb of Nicosiamarker. For the ancient settlement near Famagustamarker, see: Enkomi

Engomi ( ) is a suburb of the Cypriotmarker capital Nicosiamarker. It has a population of around 13,600 (2001 census). It is a mainly residential neighbourhood with many large villas. It also includes a very important annexe to the powerful Monastery of Our Lady Eleousa.

History

Ancient Engomi was an extensive burial ground. To the west of the suburb are the tombs from the Mycenean period. Treasured artefacts have been unearthed here, like gold jewellery found by a Swedish expedition in 1932, and a carved ivory box now kept in the British Museummarker.
