Eric Koston (born April 29, 1975 in Bangkokmarker, Thailandmarker) is a Thai American professional skateboarder who grew up in San Bernardino, Californiamarker.

Life

Eric Koston's father, Bob, was in the Air Force when he and Eric's mom met. Wanida, Eric's mom, was from Thailandmarker. Eric was born in Bangkokmarker, and moved to the states at 9 months old. His parents were divorced when he was 5, and Eric grew up in San Bernardino, Californiamarker.

Career

In 1992, Koston first got sponsored by the "Girl team"and moved to Los Angelesmarker. He officially turned pro in 1993 when he joined the "H-Street Team". Koston was most known for his Nollie-based and switch-based skills. His career has been highlighted by his 1st place in the 2000 Globe World Contest, X Games and Gravity Games, his 1st place win in the 2002 Gravity Games Street, and his 1st place in the 2003 X Games Street Competition, X Games Global Championship and Gravity Games. He was named ESPN Action Sports and Music Awards Skateboarder of the Year in both 2001 & 2002. Koston was featured in "Goldfish", Mouse", "Menikmati" and "Yeah Right!", Girl Skateboard Company films, and "Fully Flared", a Lakai skateboard film. Koston is the co-owner of the private skate park "The Berrics" with friend and fellow professional skateboarder Steve Berra.Eric Kostons favorite school to skate is Lorena Elementary in Los Angeles
