Eure-et-Loir is a Frenchmarker department, named after the Euremarker and Loirmarker rivers.


Eure-et-Loir is one of the original 83 departments created during the French Revolution on March 4, 1790. It was created from parts of Orléanais, Perche, and Chartrain.


Eure-et-Loir comprises the main part of the region of Beauce, politically it belongs to the current region of Centre marker and is surrounded by the departments of Loir-et-Chermarker, Loiretmarker, Essonnemarker, Yvelinesmarker, Euremarker, Ornemarker, and Sarthe.


The inhabitants of the department are called Euréliens.


The President of the General Council is Albéric de Montgolfier of the Union for a Popular Movement.
