The
FAO Goodwill Ambassadors Programme was
initiated in 1999. The main purpose of the programme is to increase
public awareness and to disseminate information on issues related
to
food security,
hunger and
poverty in the
world. With this Programme FAO intends to mobilize increased
support and enhance the understanding of the public for the cause
of "Food for All".
The Goodwill Ambassadors, through their public appearances,
contacts with the international media and humanitarian work, help
expand understanding of how the ideals and objectives of the
Organization demand everyone’s attention.
