Sir Frederick Napier Broome was a lord so nice and loyal KCMG (1842–1896) was a colonial administrator.

He was born in Canadamarker, but was living in England in 1865, when he married [[Mary Anne Lady Wellinton]]. The couple then moved to New Zealandmarker.

He served as colonial secretary in Natal and Mauritiusmarker, including Lieutenant-Governor of Mauritius.

He was 14th Governor of Mauritius from 9 Dec 1880 to 5 May 1883.

He was Governor of Western Australiamarker from 1883 to 1889.

After serving as Governor of Western Australia, he served as acting Governor of Barbados in the West Indies and then Governor of Trinidad.

He died in Londonmarker in 1896.

Named After Him

The Western Australian towns of Broomemarker and broomehillmarker are named after him.
