Gary Yershon is an English composer, born in London 2 November 1954 [646061].

Yershon is one of a group of composers who have little or no concert or commercial recording career, but whose nevertheless prolific output is evidenced for the most part in UK theatre souvenir programs. He began his working life as an actor [646064] and has also worked as writer/translator (e.g. Ruslan and Lyudmila [646065] for the BBC) and musical director (Phyllida Lloyd's 1994 production of The Threepenny Opera at the Donmar Warehousemarker) ; Mike Leigh's 1999 film Topsy-Turvy, and 2008 film Happy-Go-Lucky)

He is also noted for composing the theme tune to James the Cat
