George M. Steinbrenner Field, formerly known as Legends Field, is a baseball stadium located in Tampa, Floridamarker. The stadium was built in 1996 and holds 10,000 people. George M. Steinbrenner Field serves as the home of the Tampa Yankees, the Class A Advanced affiliate of the New York Yankees. The stadium also serves as the spring training home of the New York Yankees.

The ballpark had been known as Legends Field since its inaugural season in 1996. The park was renamed in honor of George Steinbrenner, the Yankees owner and Tampa resident, on March 27, 2008 [143494]. In 2008, Barack Obama had a campaign speech there with members from the Tampa Bay Rays, the local Major League Baseball team. Several prominent members were at the speech, including Johnny Gomes.

The dimensions of the field precisely mimic that of the old Yankee Stadiummarker. Outside of the stadium are plaques commemorating Yankees whose numbers have been retired. George M. Steinbrenner Field is located across the street from Raymond James Stadiummarker, home of the National Football League's Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
