Gobind Singh Deo is a prominent Malaysianmarker lawyer and politician and is the current Member of Parliament representing Puchong. He is also the national legal bureau secretary of the Democratic Action Party. He is dubbed the “little lion of Puchong”

Admitted to the Malaysian Bar in 1996, a year after returning from Lincoln's Inn, Gobind is more known for being the son and protege of Karpal Singh, the National Chairman of the Democratic Action Party. His brother, Jagdeep Singh Deo, is a state assemblyman for Datuk Keramat state seat in Penangmarker.

Political career

Since winning the constituency in the 2008 general elections, Gobind has already been making his rounds in Puchong, Bandar Kinrara and Seri Serdang townships under his constituency. He is currently expanding his free legal aid and community services and is recruiting additional assistants.

On March 16, 2009 the speaker of the Dewan Rakyat suspended Gobind Singh Deo for one year for calling Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak a murderer in the Altantuya Sharibuu case and insulting the House Deputy Speaker a week before. Because of new developments in Perak, Gobind plans to sue Dewan Rakyat Speaker Tan Sri Pandikar Amin Mulia for his ruling last month barring him from taking part in Parliament. Recently, the Federal Court’s overturned a decision made by an elected state assembly speaker, which crossed the boundaries separating the powers between the judiciary and legislature.
