Hüseyin Çakmak (born in 1964 in Nicosiamarker, Cyprusmarker) is a Turkish Cypriot cartoonist and journalist.

Early career

He started to draw cartoons in 1976 under the influence of the "Gır-Gır" humour magazine of Turkeymarker. He opened his first private cartoon exhibition (open air) in 1983 in the Turkish part of Nicosia.His cartoons have been published in various newspapers and magazines in the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus as well as in many countries of the world. He was one of the four founders of the "Cyprus Turkish Cartoonists Association" which was established in 1983. Since then he has been the President of this Association...

Çakmak's works have been exhibted in more than 50 countries and they have been published in international cartoon albums. He was a member of the Executive Committee of the Union of Turkish Cypriot Journalists Association and was its Secretary General for a period.He has been the Vice-President to the "Federation of the European Cartoonists Organizations" (FECO) since 1988.

He has won 43 awards in various national and international cartoon contests...For many years, he was selected as the "Best Cartoonist of the Year" and his works were accepted for exhibition by the international museum of cartoons.

He has been jury member of many national and international cartoon competitions...He is the Editor-in-Chief of "Akrep" (Scorpion), a Turkish Cypriot magazine of humour and cartoons. He is also the Cyprus-Editor of the "FECONEWS" organ of the FECO published in the Netherlandsmarker and of the "Witty World" published in the United Statesmarker.

He was the Assistant-Editor of the "Witty World Illustrated Directory of International Cartoon Festivals, Competitions and Awards", published in the USA in 1994.
