Hampstead & Highgate is a parliamentarymarker constituency covering the northern half of the Londonmarker Borough of Camdenmarker which includes the village of Hampsteadmarker and part of that of Highgatemarker.

Boundaries

Following their review of parliamentary representation in North Londonmarker, the Boundary Commission for England has created a new constituency of Hampstead and Kilburnmarker by excluding Highgate ward (now to be part of Holborn & St Pancrasmarker) and including three wards from the neighbouring borough of Brentmarker.

Some areas here are amongst the wealthiest in the UKmarker, but the seat has always had an intellectual, artistic middle-class vote associated with the intelligentsia (see main page on Hampsteadmarker). It also has Kilburnmarker, with its large Irish community. Glenda Jackson has yet to announce whether she intends to seek re-election in the new seat. She was a frequent critic of the former Prime Minister Tony Blair, with an independent attitude towards New Labour.
