Heinrich Fink (born
31
March 1935) is a
German theologian,
university
professor and politician of the
Partei Die Linke.
Biography
Fink comes
from an impoverished Bessarabian
peasant family. The family was resettled to
Poland on the basis of
Himmler's
emigration policy. Heinrich Fink joined the
Freie Deutsche Jugend ("Free German
Youth").
From 1954 to 1960 he studied Protestant
theology at Berlin
's Humboldt
University
where he set out his doctoral thesis. Since
1979 he has been Professor of Practical Theology at the Humboldt
University, of which he was the principal from 1990 to 1992. He is
a member of the
Christlichen
Friedenskonferenz ("Christian Peace Conference") wherein he has
occasionally been East German Regional Committee Chairman, and he
is Chairman of the
Vereinigung der Verfolgten des Naziregimes –
Bund der Antifaschistinnen und Antifaschisten ("the
Association of Persecution of the Nazi regime - Federation of
Anti-Fascists").
From 1998 to 2001, Fink was a member of the
German Bundestag
for the PDS.
Fink has been involved in controversy involving the Ministry of
State Security.
