Key features

The mall features a market-exclusive, double-decker Venetianmarker carousel.

The main tenants at the mall include Ashley Stewart, Bath & Body Works, Finish Line, The Shoe Dept., Kay Jewelers, LensCrafters, Picadilly Cafeteria and Hibbett Sports. It contains over 100 stores.

With of gross leasable area it is considered a "super-regional" mall per the standards of the International Shopping Center Association.

It was opened in 1981. In 1986 it was expanded, and in 1997 the mall was renovated to help the mall compete with the Wolfchase Galleria mall opening that year.

On February 5, 2008, the Hickory Ridge Mall was hit by a tornado. The Sears store, the Macy's store, and the mall's main entrance were heavily damaged, but despite an initial statement from management that the mall would remain closed "indefinitely" for cleanup, temporary repairs made at record speed allowed Sears to reopen on Sunday, February 10, 2008. Significant repairs and restorations will still be required, however. Several people were injured. A spokesperson for the state's Emergency Management Agency said that one person was killed however, it was never confirmed although three people were killed at a warehouse near the mall. Debris from the mall, in the form of insulating foam, was scattered all over the Memphismarker area, following the storm path northeastward at least to the Wolfchase area.

Aerial images show a large hole in the center of Macy's, while the north wall of Sears is missing. Damage to the central portions of the mall is hard to notice, but video taken from inside immediately following the tornado showed minor flooding within the building due to roof damage. Macy's announced it would not reopen due to damage to the building. The mall is expected to open back on October 28, 2009; according to the ex-vice president Patrick Jacobs.
