Hobart is a manufacturer of commercial equipment used in the foodservice and grocery industry. The company manufactures food preparation machines for cutting, slicing and mixing, cooking equipment, refrigeration units, warewashing and waste disposal systems, and weighing, wrapping and labeling systems and products. Hobart is an international company with manufacturing plants in the United States, Australia, Benelux, Brazil, Canada, China, Columbia, France, Germany, Hong Kong, Italy, Japan, Korea, Mexico, Puerto Rico and the United Kingdom. In 2008 and 2009, Hobart’s parent company, ITW Food Equipment Group (ITW-FEG), was named “ENERGY STAR® Partner of the Year.” Combined, Hobart and Traulsen have nearly 400 products that are ENERGY STAR rated.


Hobart was founded in 1897 as Hobart Electric Manufacturing Company in Troy, Ohiomarker, by CC Hobart. To increase motor sales, the company attached their motors to coffee mills and meat grinders, creating a powered food production machine.

The company reorganized in 1913 as The Hobart Manufacturing Company and became Hobart Corporation in 1974. In 2001, Hobart became a part of ITW Food Equipment Group.


Commercial Mixers

In 1914, Hobart made a product line expansion with the introduction of a commercial electric mixer. In 2003, Hobart introduced the Legacy™ Mixer, which earned the company an honorable mention as manufacturer of the year by Foodservice Consultants Society International (FCSI).


  • Hobart launched its conveyor-type warewashers designed with the Hobart patented Opti-Rinse technology in 2004. Hobart states that this patented rinse technology can save more than 50 percent in water and more than 50 percent in energy costs. This new rinse feature was recognized by the Foodservice Consultants Society International (FCSI) as one of the top 10 innovative products of 2005.
  • In 2004 the AM Select also became the first door-type warewasher to achieve NSF certification for heavily soiled pots and pans.
  • In May 2008, Hobart introduced the ENERGY STAR qualified Cle conveyor-type warewashers.

Weighing and Labeling Systems

  • In 1982 Hobart launched the Model 5000 weighing and labeling system, which was the first scale to allow interface with store computer systems.
  • In 1995 Hobart launched Quantum model a seamless design, water-resistaint, easy to clean.
  • Hobart’s HLX Service Scale, launched in 2007, is built for seamless integration with Microsoft Windows® components.
