Iowa Highway 25 is a north-south highway in the southwest and west-central portion of the state. Highway 25's southern terminus is at its junction with Iowa Highway 2 seven miles (11 km) south of Clearfield. This intersection occurs in the middle of a curve on Highway 2. Its northern terminus is at U.S. Route 30 on the northern edge of Scranton.

Route description

Iowa Highway 25 begins at Iowa Highway 2 on the border between Taylormarker and Ringgoldmarker Counties south of Clearfieldmarker. It continues north on the county border through Clearfield and also forms the border between Adamsmarker and Unionmarker Counties. Near Kentmarker, Iowa 25 intersects U.S. Highway 34 and they overlap going northeast into Crestonmarker. At Creston, the overlap ends and Iowa 25 goes north, then west out of Creston. It then turns north until Orientmarker. It then turns west at Orient, then turns north to proceed to Greenfieldmarker, where it intersects Iowa Highway 92. The highway continues north from Greenfield and intersects Interstate 80 and U.S. Highway 6 between Caseymarker and Menlomarker. After a brief turn west towards Casey, it then turns north and intersects Iowa Highway 44 at Guthrie Centermarker. It goes north out of Guthrie Center and turns west with Iowa Highway 141 into Bayardmarker. It turns north at Bayard and continues north through Scrantonmarker, after which the highway ends at U.S. Highway 30.

History

Highway 25 originally extended only from Creston to Scranton. By 1937 it had been extended all the way to the Missouri state line south of Blocktonmarker, but the highway was truncated back to that community in 1980, then the segment from Highway 2 to Blockton was decommissioned in 1981.
