Jonathan Reuven Rotem (born 1975) is an Americanmarker record producer.


J.R Rotem is of Israeli descent and was born in South Africa. He grew up in Torontomarker and the San Francisco Bay Areamarker and now lives in the Beverly Hillsmarker neighborhood of Los Angelesmarker. Growing up, he played piano and listened to classical and rock music. He attended Berklee College of Musicmarker and majored in jazz composition. In 2006, Rotem started his own record label, Beluga Heights inking a joint deal with Epic and Koch. Sean Kingston, a young Miami-based R&B artist, was their first signing. Rotem also started a publishing company under the Beluga Heights umbrella, signing "SOS" co-writer Evan "Kidd" Bogart and UK artist-writer Lolene. Beluga Heights' signed 18-year old R&B singer Auburn from St. Paulmarker, Minnesotamarker. Beluga Heights newest artist, who recently inked a deal with Mercury/Def Jam, is currently recording his new album.

Most songs produced by J. R. Rotem feature him, in a low synthesized voice saying "J J J J JR", pronounced [Ja-Ja-Ja-Ja-Jay-Are], in some part of the song (usually the beginning). Listeners have expressed mixed feelings about how this affects artistic credibility of these songs.
