Dr. Jerald F. Dirks (born 1950, Kansas) is a former ordained Methodist minister, Muslim convert and popular author of several books on Islam and Christianity.


Dr. Dirks enrolled at Harvard Collegemarker as a philosophy major in 1967. He was named a Hollis Scholar, signifying that he was a top pre-theology student in the college. He worked as a youth minister at a fairly large United Methodist Church during his freshman and sophomore years. He graduated in 1971 and was admitted to the Harvard Divinity Schoolmarker thereafter, from where he graduated with a Master's degree in Divinity. During his seminary education, he also completed a two-year externship program as a hospital chaplain at Peter Bent Brigham Hospital in Boston. He also holds a Doctorate in Psychology from the University of Denvermarker.
