John Joseph Adams (September 16, 1848February 16, 1919) was a United States Congressman from New York Statemarker.

Adams was born in Douglastown, New Brunswickmarker (now part of Miramichimarker, New Brunswickmarker, Canadamarker) on September 16, 1848. He emigrated to the United Statesmarker in 1864, settling in New York Citymarker, and worked in a dry-goods firm in New York Citymarker until he began studies at Columbia Law School. Adams graduated with a degree in law in 1876 and was admitted to the bar the same year.

He was elected to the United States House of Representatives from two different districts; he represented the 8th District from 1883 to 1885 and the 7th district from 1885 to 1887. Both districts at the time were in Queensmarker. He did not seek renomination in 1886 and returned to the practice of law.

John J. Adams died on February 16, 1919, and was interred in Green-Wood Cemeterymarker in Brooklyn.
