John "Johnny" Jeter (born December 14, 1981) is an Americanmarker professional wrestler best known for his appearances in World Wrestling Entertainment as Spirit Squad member Johnny on the Raw brand.

Career

World Wrestling Entertainment

Johnny Jeter made his debut as one of Los Conquistadores (along with Rob Conway) at the APA Invitational Barroom Brawl Match during the Vengeance 2003 pay-per-view, which was then a SmackDown! brand pay-per-view.

After that, he was assigned to the Ohio Valley Wrestling (OVW) farm territory, where he formed a tag team with Matt Cappotelli called The Thrillseekers. When Cappotelli was injured in a match where he pinned the reigning OVW Champion to earn a title shot, Jeter took his place in the title match and won the gold.

Jeter played the role of a self-centered champion who generated hostility from everyone from announcers and performers, ultimately leading to a match with the returning Cappotelli and losing the title to him.

Raw

In OVW, he became a part of The Spirit Squad (under the name "Johnny"), who were eventually called up to Raw. On January 23, 2006, they had their television debut, appearing to perform cheers for Jonathan Coachman. They later became a part of the on-going feud between WWE chairman Vince McMahon and Shawn Michaels. The villainous McMahon brought in the Squad to attack Michaels on numerous occasions, including placing them in multiple handicap matches. During a handicap match, with the Spirit Squad facing Michaels, the Squad attacked Michaels before the match began, and in storyline, shattered his knee. Triple H was supposed to help; however, Kenny disrespected Triple H, and in retaliation he attakced the group. This led to Triple H and Michaels reforming D-Generation X (DX) and they began a feud with the Spirit Squad. DX played various sophomoric jokes on the Squad and the McMahons, as well as defeating the Spirit Squad in handicap tag matches at Vengeance and a clean sweep in an elimination handicap match at Saturday Night's Main Event.

They also wrestled in the tag team division, and on April 3, on Raw, won the World Tag Team Championship when Kenny and Mikey, with outside help from the other three Squad members, defeated Kane and The Big Show. The team also wrestled other teams in Raw's tag division over their World Tag Team Title, successfully defending the titles against the teams of Jim Duggan and Eugene,Charlie Haas and Viscera, and Snitsky and Val Venis. They then entered a lengthy feud with The Highlanders, whom they eventually defeated to retain the titles at Unforgiven.

The Squad began a losing streak with separate members losing singles matches to Ric Flair on consecutive episodes of Raw. After two consecutive losses to the debuting Cryme Tyme, Kenny attacked Mikey, and declared that he would beat Flair. Later in the night he succeeded, with help from the Squad, despite Flair bringing a number of fellow "Legends" (Dusty Rhodes, Sgt. Slaughter, and "Rowdy" Roddy Piper) to the ring with him to even the odds. It was then decided that Flair and one of the legends would wrestle the Squad at Cyber Sunday for the Tag Team Championship. The fans chose Piper, and he and Flair defeated Kenny and Mikey to win the title.

The group was "killed off" on the November 27 Raw after they were defeated in a 5 on 3 match by DX and Flair. After a triple submission, and being buried in a backstage segment, DX dumped them into a large crate stamped "OVW, Louisville, Kentuckymarker".

Following the breakup of The Spirit Squad, Johnny became the second member of the team to return, coming back during a 30-man battle royal on the December 18, 2006 episode of Raw; wearing new wrestling attire. Following this appearance, Jeter resumed his absence from WWE television.

Return to developmental territories

Jeter made his return to OVW on the February 21 TV taping as Idol Stevens' tag team partner. Jeter also made numerous appearances in dark matches before SmackDown!, beginning a gimmick where the announcer billed him from the host's city. On the August 8, 2007 Ohio Valley Wrestling television taping, Jeter debuted a new tag team partner Christian York and participated with him in a dark match at the DCW tapings the following night against KC and Kassidy James.

During a live Raw event in August 2007 in Fayetteville, NCmarker, Jeter returned under the name of "Johnny Jeter". During the October 17, 2007 house show in Manchester, Englandmarker, Jeter debuted for the ECW brand under the ring name "Jayden Jeter". After a brief stint at ECW live events, Jeter went on a lengthy leave of absence, not appearing at WWE nor developmental shows. He is believed to have been released before WrestleMania XXIV, although WWE has never made it official.
