KBCI-TV channel 2 (digital 28) is the CBS affiliate in Boise, Idahomarker. It is owned by Fisher Communications and is the market's second television station, having signed on the air on November 26, 1953.

KBCI originally signed on as KBOI-TV with CBS, ABC and DuMont affiliations. By 1974 the ABC affiliation went to new sign-on KIVImarker, leaving KBOI with CBS. After its co-owned radio stations were sold, its call letters were changed to KBCI. The KBCI call letters were chosen because at the time, the station had a sign consisting of 10 to high metal letters "KBOI" on the front of its studio, and the station could make the old sign match the new call letters simply by sawing out a section of the "O."

KBCI, along with KIVI, have hour-long newscasts in the evening.

Awards

In 2004, KBCI's news team received the prestigious DuPont and Edward R. Murrow awards for the 2002/2003 investigation into former Boise Mayor Brent Coles. The investigation into Cole's mismanagement of public funds led to the mayor's resignation and subsequent prosecution by the Idaho Attorney General's Office. In 2009, Idaho Press Club recognized 2News in May with awards for Best Investigative Reporting and Best Light Feature. Later in the year KBCI won "Best Newscast" from the Idaho State Broadcaster's Association.
