KRER (101.7 FM) is a radio station broadcasting a Sports radio format. Licensed to Hamilton City, Californiamarker, USA, the station serves the Chico area. The station is currently owned by Coloma Hamilton City, LLC which also owns KHSL-FM 103.5 "The Blaze", KMXI-FM Mix 95.1, KHHZ-FM Radio Mexico, NewsTalk 1290 KPAY and KEWE-AM Radio Recuerdos 1340. The general manager is Dino Corbin, program director is Larry Scott, sports director is Mike Baca and other personalities include Randy Zachary and Mike Wessels. It is Butte Countymarker's primary affiliate for ESPN Radio. The station features programing from ESPN Radio.

History

The station began on KEWE-AM, which had previously played jazz and blues music before switching its format to sports talk. The branding would become known as the SportsFan 1340. However, the signal was extremely weak, so management switched formats and bands in 2006. The FM station remains as KRER while KEWE-AM returned to the ESPN Radio format at 1340.

SportsFan 101.7 is the flagship station for Butte College Roadrunner football (with Mike Wessels) and covers local high school sports (with Mike Baca) alongside its sister station KPAY. They also began coverage of the annual Lions Club All-Star Football Game in Reddingmarker in 2006 representing the South All-Stars. (The North All-Stars radio representation is KNTK-FM of Mt.marker Shastamarker). They are also the local affiliate of the NBA's Sacramento Kings Radio Network. During the 2007 and 2008 seasons, the station became the flagship station for local Golden Baseball League baseball team, the Chico Outlaws with Rory Miller on the call. Currently, the station is the flagship for San Francisco Giants baseball games.
