Larry Cochell is a former baseball coach for the University of Oklahomamarker. His great career was overshadowed by his racial remarks ("...he is a good" n-word), in two off the field interviews. It started before an ESPN2 telecast of the Oklahoma-Wichita Statemarker game. He used racial remarks to describe Oklahoma's freshman outfielder Joe Dunigan III. With the embarrassment, he decided to resign. He is most notable for leading the Sooners to a national championship at the 1994 College World Series.

He also served as the head coach at Cal-State Fullertonmarker, Creightonmarker, Oral Roberts Universitymarker and Northwesternmarker.
